We will let you know if the job is cash or card within the app as soon as you have pressed ‘Start trip’. This will be shown in the top right of the job screen. On cash jobs, please enter the total amount paid (tip included), as a receipt is sent to the passenger’s email address. On Card jobs, passengers pre-select the tip in their app and it’s then automatically added.
When you are on shift and FREE you are available for hail and therefore able to receive job offers. When a job offer is sent, the screen on your app will display the offer and an alert will sound. We will show you the pick up location and also let you know how far away the job is from your current location. The offer will also show important information such as fixed price, airport destinations and Prebook pickup time.
All Hailo passengers are given up to 2.5 minutes free waiting time. You should only start your meter when your passenger boards the cab or the passenger has asked you to wait longer than the free 2.5 minutes waiting time. But please call the customer and let them know that you will start the meter if they do ask you to wait longer.
There are three ways you can take payment for a Hailo job, cash, card and card account. Cash When you get to the destination tap ‘Take Payment’, enter the fare (including any tip) and tap ‘Cash’. Check the amount, tap ‘Confirm’ and then tap ‘Cash Received’ when you have collected the fare. Account When you get to the destination tap ‘Take Payment’, enter the meter fare (any auto tip set by the customer will be automatically added) and tap ‘Charge Card Account’. Double check fare, tap confirm and when you see the ‘Payment Accepted’ message, tap OK. Credit / Debit Card A customer cannot switch from cash to card payment. If the customer hails with cash, they have to pay with cash. What if a customer books by card but wants to pay cash? If the customer books by card but changes their mind and wants to pay cash at the end, you can tap on the cash icon on the payment screen. This is the grey button next to ‘Charge Card Account’. No. We don’t offer you jobs when you have told us you have a passenger on board by tapping "BUSY" or have set Send me Hailo Jobs to ‘No’. This is because we want to make our system the quickest service for passengers looking for a cab and offer as many jobs as we can to cabs that are running empty.
No. Once you have accepted a Hailo job, you have made a commitment to the passenger and will be expected to be at the pickup location as soon as possible. Likewise, the passenger has also made a commitment and you should expect them to be at the pickup location.
Telling us you have a passenger on board (BUSY) lets us know you are currently on a job and cannot accept anymore work until you have reached your destination. It helps us run things smoothly and avoids any confusion with job offers. Watch our Getting your First Job video for more info.
If you need to contact the passenger at any time, give them a call. You can do this by tapping the phone icon next to their name.
Just like any other Hailo job, you are not obliged to take any job offered - although we’d like it if you took as many as you can. But remember, if you do take a fixed price job you must complete the job for the price quoted when you accepted.
If you are having trouble getting to the right pickup point, give the passenger a call. You can do this by tapping the phone icon next to the passenger’s name.
